GUIDE NEIGHBOURHOODS
Perry Common Estate based Community Organisations' hard work over many years has now been recognised as an example of excellence.
Witton Lodge Community Association has recently been named a 'Guide Neighbourhood' by the Home Office. In essence this means that the government recognises the success of the collaboration of various local organisations' approach towards community-led and holistic regeneration and wants Witton Lodge Community Association to support, inspire and encourage other communities to work together to transform their neighbourhoods for the better.
Although funding for the Perry Common Guide Neighbourhood programme has now ended, the team are determined to continue supporting communities in resident-led regeneration by offering help, advice and hosting visits. They are now having to charge for these visits to cover basic costs, but do not want this to prevent groups from visits so do contact them if this is a problem

Residents from communities across the UK are invited to get together to come and visit us: to be encouraged, inspired and supported. Residents from Perry Common will be available to tell you their story of living and experiencing first-hand the regeneration of their community and how they have been involved. They will tell you honestly of some of the pitfalls and realities as well as the exciting parts of this journey.
We are residents supporting residents. We can organise tailor-made visits for groups of between 10 and 15 people on a range of themes that include the following:
-Housing (mixed tenure, working with contractors. monitoring contracts, design and housing management)

-Community Cohesion (community events and celebrations, social, economic, spiritual and health elements)
-Community Safety (Community Watch, Neighbourhood Watch, Police Liaison)
-Cleaner, Greener, Safer public realm (environmental services, grounds maintenance, recycling, public open spaces)
-Partnership working (NHS, Police, Districts, Voluntary organisations, building contractors, colleges etc...)
-Public Open Spaces (redesigning, celebrating, using)

All the above is free of charge to residents and their organisations, who cannot afford to pay, and is funded by the Civil Renewal Unit of the Home Office as part of the Together We Can campaign.
